Vessels observing suspicious behavior or incidents are encouraged to report to the NATO Shipping Centre at +44 1923-956574 or report the incident via an email to the address: info@shipping.nato.int. Your email should include:
- Name and Flag of your vessel
- Telephone number (INMARSAT) of your vessel
- Position, date and time of the irregular or suspicious incident or behavior observed
- As detailed description of the incident or behavior as possible
(Other means of documentation such as screen shots from radars, ECDIS photos, and recordings of communication are much appreciated).
Vessels reports will be used as part of the operational monitoring in the Baltic Sea. Engaging in reporting of this kind to the NATO Shipping Centre will not in any way cause any delays or other inconveniences.
Examples of suspicious observations, behavior or incidents are:
- Vessels lacking anchor(s).
- Vessels doing speed with an anchor out (suspected to drag its anchor).
- Vessels reducing speed to an abnormal level over or close to known undersea infrastructure.
- Vessels having an abnormal sail pattern over or close to known undersea infrastructure.
- Unannounced diving activities over or close to known undersea infrastructure.
NATO Shipping Center will acknowledge all reporting received.
